Bees inthe Qur'an
Out of every creature Allah created, the little honeybee was given its very own surah in the Holy Qur'an — Surah An-Nahl, “The Bee.” In it, Allah inspires the bee, and the honey it makes is called a shifa — a healing — for people. Centuries later, scientists keep finding new reasons these few ayahs ring true.

A whole surah, named for her
فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِلنَّاسِ
“And your Rabb inspired the bee: ‘Make your homes in the mountains, in the trees, and in the structures people raise. Then eat from every kind of fruit, and travel the paths your Rabb has made easy for you.’ From inside them comes a drink of many colours, in which there is healing for people. Surely in this is a sign for people who reflect.”
The 16th surah of the Holy Qur'an is named An-Nahl — “The Bee.” In just two ayahs, Allah tells us where bees make their homes, how they gather, and that what they make carries shifa — healing. The words here are a rendering of the meaning; the real beauty lives in the original Arabic.
In the Sunnah
“Healing is in three things”
“Healing is in three things: a gulp of honey, cupping, and branding with fire — but I forbid my followers to use branding with fire.”
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ placed honey first among natural remedies. In another well-known hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari, a man came to him ﷺ about his brother's upset stomach and was told, again and again, “Give him honey” — and by Allah's will, his brother recovered. For generations, our elders have reached for honey at the first scratch of a sore throat, long before anyone could explain why it works.

What science came to find
None of this is meant as proof — our iman does not need it. But it is beautiful, Subhan'Allah, how often a closer look at the bee matches what Allah revealed about her all those years ago.
The forager is female
In the ayah, the bee is spoken to in the feminine. And the worker bees that build the comb and gather the nectar are, in fact, all female — something only confirmed under the microscope much later.
A language of direction
“Travel the paths your Rabb has made easy.” Foragers really do follow exact routes — and when they return, they dance a figure-eight that maps the direction and the distance for the rest of the hive.
Perfect geometry
Bees build in perfect hexagons. In 1999, mathematicians finally proved the honeycomb is the most efficient shape there is — the least wax for the most honey. The little bee knew first.
“In it is shifa”
Honey is naturally antibacterial — low in water, slightly acidic, releasing a trace of hydrogen peroxide. Today, hospitals use medical-grade honey on burns and wounds that refuse to heal.
A tiny creature, inspired by Allah — turning flowers into a drink that heals. The least we can do is keep it pure.
Our honey is raw and unblended — just as it was meant to be: straight from the comb, nothing added, nothing taken away.
